Davie Cooper keepie-uppie magic

The Drybrough Cup was a pre-season knockout competition played in Scotland during the ’70s. It’s not well-known - even north of the border - but older fans will remember the 1979 final for this incredible Davie Cooper goal.

The winger lifts the ball over the heads of four Celtic defenders before passing it into the net. Bhoys and ghirls who are easily upset should give this video a miss.

Rangers triumphed with a 3-1 win over their Old Firm rivals. This turned out to be the penultimate Drybrough Cup. The tournament was wound up in 1980 with Aberdeen being the final club to have its name engraved on the trophy.

Aw, that’s sweet. Like Gazza’s goal against Scotland but with four times as much keepie-uppie.

  4. Richard Says:

I’m no’ sure about that, Carl. Gazza’s goal was easier to take. :-)

EDIT: Comments edited cos I deleted them all by accident. Doh!
